Introduction to Non-Kiln Kintsugi, repairing broken pottery with Genuine Gold Leaf with Bridgette Schnider

This is great opportunity to learn the Japanese technique of Kintsugi. Students will work with patent leaf to repair broken pottery into new radiant works of art.

BKS worked as a consultant metal ornament gilder at a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Israel, has painted ornamental ceilings in China and the US, including recently completed gilded murals for the Wayfarer Theaters flagship theater in Highland Park, IL, and specializes a variety of illuminations styles.

BKS teaches the uses ancient techniques of gilding, making semi-precious stone pigments and ruler and compass pattern construction for youth and adults.

BKS is influenced from time living in Israel, Japan and China, the artistry of late architect, Louis Bourgeois, and the woods of the Pacific Northwest. BKS graduated from the Art Institute of Portland in industrial design and finished four courses at VMCTA in Pakistan in collaboration with the Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts in London and will be traveling to study Mamluk manuscript illumination and sacred global geometric patterns in London this summer.
