Decorative glass work has many artistic and useful applications such as table-tops, backsplashes, glass insets for cabinet doors, wall panels, mirrors, and so much more.
This 2-day class emphasizes designing for the inspiring medium of verre églomisé.

Decorative glass work has many artistic and useful applications such as table-tops, backsplashes, glass insets for cabinet doors, wall panels, mirrors, and so much more. Participants in this class may create a lovely gilt glass project in hands-on practice, while learning the many possibilities of this exciting art.

Topics covered in this workshop include:

- understanding materials

- choosing the right glass for your project

- creating pleasing color palettes with various types of gold and paints, metal leaf and mica powders,

- preparing size for different media

- design and transfer techniques for images, ornament, and patterns

- etching and shading techniques

- site-specific design considerations

- backing up, installation, and other finish applications.

Lynne Rutter is a fine art muralist and decorative painter based in San Francisco whose work emphasizes site-specific design and authentic materials and techniques. She has been an active part of the design community for over 35 years and has completed hundreds of installations nationally and internationally. Gilding has played an important role in Lynne’s work whether in restoration, ornamentation, or her large-scale paintings.
